OUR MISSION

Margaret’s mission is to provide a continuum of safe supportive housing for women with mental health challenges, and an array of innovative community-based programming available to both women and men, empowering them to build and reclaim their lives. Our programs contribute to reducing poverty and homelessness throughout the Greater Toronto Area.

Empowered individuals of varying mental abilities living and thriving in the community, and a society where women and men in need have access to safe, supportive, and stable environments through a holistic model that provides safety, respect, stability, and hope.

OUR APPROACH

Our clients have a wide variety of psychiatric diagnoses and require intensive support to live in the community. We strive to provide a welcoming, warm, caring attitude and space for the women and men that access our services. This way, they can focus on what matters: accessing essential community-based services, making meaningful connections, practicing self-care, and improving their lives.

Margaret's believes in empowerment, respect, compassion, innovation, cultural competency and ultimately recovery. Our services are client-centered and anti-oppressive in practice.

EMPOWERMENT

We treat our clients as adults who deserve our understanding and support. We encourage individuals to be the best they can be, to participate in decisions that affect their care and their home, and to take responsibility for their health and welfare.

RESPECT

Privacy and confidentiality are watchwords by which we live. We ensure that our care and attention are tailored to each client’s unique needs and delivered in a respectful manner.

COMPASSION

We care about everyone we interact with at Margaret’s. We strive to understand the challenges with which each person is dealing with, and wish to overcome. We believe our clients are, first and foremost, treating every person with dignity and respect.

Our door is always open to each other. ‘That’s not my job’ is not a phrase with which we’re familiar. We are always willing to lend each other a helping hand, and our services aim at supporting the strengths of our clients.
